YunQi Concept Store Launches in Shanghai and Shenzhen, Unveiling a New Chapter for the YI Lifestyle
04.25.2024

Marking the 10th anniversary, YI, the premium fashion brand, has inaugurated the groundbreaking lifestyle space, "YunQi Concept Store," at K11 Art Mall Shanghai and Uniwalk Qianhai Shenzhen. This milestone anchors YI’s elevated brand identity and influence, heralding a visionary trajectory for the next decade.

Rooted in the philosophy of “unity of knowledge and action, physically and mentally free,” YunQi Concept Store merges fashion with Chinese traditional tea culture, offering an immersive experience where Eastern aesthetics converse with modern design. It serves as a space for contemporary women seeking inner freedom and external ease.

Inspired by Su Dongpo’s article the XiYu Pavilion (《喜雨亭记》) from the Northern Song Dynasty—“Build a pavilion north of the hall and dig a pond to the south, channeling water and planting trees to create a place of rest”—the space reimagines traditional Chinese courtyard layouts to explore contemporary Eastern expression. The Shanghai K11 store mirrors the structure described in the article, while the Shenzhen store expands on the concept of “wandering gardens,” blending architectural order, domestic tranquility, and playful exploration to craft a narrative-rich, dynamic environment.

Within YI’s brand ethos, the XiYu Pavilion symbolizes a haven for the soul. At K11 Shanghai, a translucent acrylic pavilion embodies the idea of “formlessness” to accommodate viewer's thoughts. In Shenzhen, a wooden pavilion crafted from natural materials evokes harmony between humanity and nature. Both spaces bridge physical environments with spiritual resonance. Furthermore, renowned spatial designer Xu Liang infused the spaces with bamboo-inspired motifs. Bamboo-green and white, and accents like bamboo-fan lights and chairs extend Eastern poeticism.

Both YunQi Concept Stores feature a dedicated tea space. Collaborating with artisanal pastry brand The Rougé, YI has curated a tea and dessert menu inspired by Song Dynasty poetry. Ceramic tea sets, custom-crafted by Cheng Hanzhe of Anshi Studio, echoing the multifaceted identities of modern women, from poised sophistication to nurturing warmth.
